When I first moved into my new apartment, I was in such a hurry to furnish the kitchen that I didn’t give much thought to being Green or buying eco-friendly products.  But did you know that you can buy eco-friendly cutting boards?  If you are someone who likes to cook, then you might find this interesting.

Now don’t get me wrong, I rarely use mine and I like to cook but I am guilty of buying a typical plastic one from my local Target store.  But had I known about the various types, I would of given it some more thought.

Recycled paper, flax, and cork are just some of the suggested materials that makeup eco-friendly cutting boards.  There are 5 types that are affordable, durable and pleasant to display.  Just in case your guests notice!

  1. Recycled Paper
  2. Recycled Plastic
  3. Reclaimed or Salvaged Wood
  4. Sustainable Wood
  5. Cork

You can read the full article and decide if one sounds like the more logical choice than the other.  Perhaps cutting on cork may worry you or maybe you’ll end up with a splinter from the salvaged wood ones.  Which one will you buy?

Celebrities really like to voice their opinion. If it isn’t Angelina Jolie talking about the president it’s Bono talking about Georg Clooneyvoting. I’m not saying their opinions don’t count, but I wonder how much people really listen. For instance, would the Hollywood A-list make you go green?

Hollywood is one of the most polluting industries around: Focus Earth’s entertainment episode cites a 2006 study showing that between special effects explosions, idling vehicles, and diesel generators, the industry produces an estimated 8.4 million metric tons of CO2 equivalents annually—a level that nearly reaches the emissions produced by both the hotel and apparel industries.

But celebrities like George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Edward Norton have strived to live green and use their fame to influence others to go green.

Do they influence you to go green?  Would any celebrity influence you to make your life more green?

TurkeyYou can go green this Thanksgiving and save some money at the same time. Here are some helpful tips

for going green on Thanksgiving (which is next week by the way). I can’t believe how close Thanksgiving is and how easy going green can be.

The tips are really easy to implement. For example, you can easily avoid throwing away food by using these tasty Thanksgiving leftover recipes.

You can also conserve energy when you scrape off your plate before putting it in the dishwasher. The less energy you use, the cheaper your power bill will be.

Do you have any helpful tips that can make Thanksgiving a little greener?
